案子已经消了。给有家有业的同学做个参考。

without future premium change, you will get money from the other party and
his insurance company.
last year December, based on police report, i ran the red light and t-bone
with a truck. I were driving a 2011 X5 and the other party is 2000 Dodge
Dakota.
Driver sued me for 98k, passenger sued me for 68k during June 2013.
the case is settled this year at Nov, 2013. Passenger is 58k. and the driver
is 35k due to insurance scam. (he tried to use this case to get a lot of
pain-killer and my insurance geico found it out from some sources)
my car is totaled for 52k, their truck is 8k around.
at that time, my insurance is 100k/300k/100k. we paid $1000 half year and I
am the primary.
Now, my insurance is 250k/500k/100k. we pay $2000 half a year and my wife is
primary. 250/500/100 is the minimum requirement of umbrella insurance
purchase. I also have 2M umbrella insurance for $690 a year.
