You asked two questions, I answer 1 by 1:
1) I think the field is promising.
2) You shouldn't expect much return just because of PhD title; think about
this,
how many phds graduated each year in US alone? how many phds graduated in
top 5
schools alone, top 10 schools alone? top 100 schools together?
Ok, my point is that not every phd title holder is equal, simple bah.
People/company will hire you to do what they/you think you can do and pay
you for that.
