天蝎和水瓶 2007/09
这两天身边老听到杨千桦的《可惜我是水瓶座》，很悲伤的旋律。从前在星座论坛里面
看见有人讽刺这首歌写得假，说水瓶是最理智最不爱流泪的星座。网上星座论坛里面也
很多批水瓶的帖子，上次新浪星座里面选被哪个星座伤害得最深，结果一向以伤人最厉
害的天蝎座排了第一，而水瓶也以仅次于天蝎座的票数荣登第二。
我好朋友是个天蝎迷，被天蝎伤害过N多次，每次都伤痕累累，但如果再遇见天蝎还是
会以飞蛾扑火的姿势，扑向她的宿命。我觉得很奇特，问她，喜欢天蝎的什么？她沉吟
了一会，回答，我发现再丑的天蝎，有时候也会流露出很可爱很孩子气的一面，让你忍
不住想要亲近他。她是母爱泛滥的巨蟹座女子，没天理。

别误导。。现在QCOM绝对超过BRCM,BRCM对fresh毕业的学生来说不好，没RSU.就只有

I already know 5 engineers left broadcom recently. I think I will see more
and more ppl leave the company in next few months.

10 years ago, a GSM/IS95 BB chipset sold for $15~30. Now MTK/SPRD sell BB/
PMU/RF at $2~2.5. It is not surprising the industry has to cut benefit and
even exit like TI/Freescale/IFX. It does not matter which is more Niu or not
. Get a better team matching personal interest (project, salary or GC or
whatever) is more relevant. (I work for B and most of my labmates went to Q
many years ago)

terms of compensation. But after the reform(RSU cut, vacation 0), it is a
median pay company now.
While Q goes another direction, it replaced options with RSU(vest in 3 years) and raised bonus level....
So now, overall (including benefits) , for the same position, Q pays 10-20k more than B.

Just curious. Is 0 vacation for real? Does that mean every one gets maybe

的手机还要收保护费（大家都很烦)，但一旦到用户手里就没份了。而apple在产品全寿

最近google比apple还大方
最近google给某个UCLA的cs fresh phd开出15万，然后那么好的食堂吃饭还免费。
google最近给offer都涨了base，据我所知facebook，amazon，msft也都跟着match，不知道教主有没有响应号召，你可以去给大家探探路哈

那个是因为BRCM的ESPP除了offer period start/end两个价之外，
还有第三个几年内不动的参考价。三个价格里面取低的。这个参考价
是management定的，隔个2，3年重新定一次。
前几年股票低的时候，那个参考价很低。所以这样ESPP爽了几年。
今年大概重新调过了，爽不到了。
其实吧大家都是打工一族，薪水bonus多个1两万扣了税也没多少。还是
做点自己看兴趣的东西要紧一些啦。

不是谣传，今年intel 的系数是4.2%, 是近年最高的， 一般自己系数4-5之间的员工（
差不多工作Phd 5年以上的)就应该有30% bonus...

我也有同感，QCOM的对手是自己，BRCM的对手是QCOM...
另外 BRCM才1万人不到，QCOM已经2万了。。。

You can say it is 0 days vacation or unlimited vacations. Both are true.
Because the HR won't record your vacation hours anymore, as long as your
manager approve, you can get what ever vacation days you want...

What ? When did BRCM get rid of their RSU for new hires ? They used to
be pretty good with that. I heard BRCM did get rid of the 2+ weeks PTO
vacation entitlement, and moved to a manager approval unlimited PTO
model.
Which means if you get laid off, no cash out on unpaid vacations.
