Can anybody recommend me a good text/tutorial book for VPN?
I need to understand how the parameters are used and how the channel is set.
It is better if the book can be free downloaded from Internet.

What vpn you are talking about? L2 or L3? IPsec or MPLS, or something else?

One more question. Look at the picture (below) in attachment, will mypc be assigned
a new IP (say 192.168.1.34) by the VPN gateway in order to access server 192
.168.1.33? This is IPsec, assuming my pc is a dialup user.
If my pc will not be assigned a new IP when VPN is set, is there any case/
setting which will cause q new IP is assigned?

you will get a new ip in 192.168.1.0 LAN, and most likely mypc's default

So the IP will always be assigned no matter what kind of settings in IPsec?
I checked mypc but no new IP was assigned although the VPN has been
connected.

Actually, there are 3 types of VPN, LTTP,L2TP, IPSec.
I highly recommend you buy a WAN book, which can talk about VPN. Because VPN
is so different at different cases.
