Why apologize? Never admit you've done something wrong. It will hurt your
creditability.
I caught the mistakes of many people before (from clients' side or our own
side) and nobody has ever apologized for anything. They just correct the
mistake. Sometimes they found bunch of excuses and correct mistakes silently

Oh, really? From my perspective, people who dare not admit their errors
either have very fragile egos or are simply incompetent (usually both).

but in my case, i need to apologize to my client for this mistake. i can't
just pretend there's no mistake, can i? =)

It's rather context dependent, isn't it? E.g., what kind of person your
boss is, what kind of mistake, etc. Anyway, I'd say to be frank and
straight is usually a good strategy. The point is you want to let the
other party know that measures have been taken so similar mistakes
would not occur again. If I were your client, I'd be much more
concerned with the concreteness of your measures than the way apology
is expressed.

why mention boss?
can you just say - it's our mistake, we apologize for that and are working
hard to...
