My experience with online purchase of trees/flowers was very bad.
Most of them won't survive.

今天终于在homedepot发现了一盆，剩没几棵了置于花架子底下都殃殃的，不过价格还
算厚道($7),挑了一个花骨朵多的，浇水后明显精神焕发，估计过不了几天家里就有久
违的栀子花香了。 和和！

hehe, got two at $7.5 here @ Lowe's.
Noticed them sitting on the shelf for quite a while, and getting worse each
visit. Didn't want to buy since I know they are gonna need a lot of
attention here in Zone 6, but can't tolerate seeing two fine pots of
Gardenia dying.
Just the same like you found, they are getting much better just with a
little more water.
In my case, it turns out they are simply outgrowing the little containers,
which are full of the roots with little soil left. If this is also the case
for you, better re-pot them before blooming season. Otherwise, the buds
might show up but never make it to bloom.

为啥我种了7棵，没一棵能活的，前前后后的都死去，死的莫名其妙。
