Yes! Good point.
I agree that it is not America changes, it is our mind changed!
It is not America demands more from us, it is ourselves demand more from us!
When we are fighting for going abroad, we didn't know what America really is.
After getting here, we are "too" busy to learn the real America. When we
failed, we have no interests in learning the real America. After getting
settled, we assume we have learned the real America.
