Q:I am a PhD student in University of Michigan. I got my F-1 visa in
Beijing in August, 1999.However, I had a J-1 visa from
Jan. to April, 1999 in US for a short training period. Since my
current visa status has been changed to F-1, am I still subject to the
J-1 two year home country requirement? Do I need to apply for
the J-1 waiver?
