I agree totally. Especially, when you are in some decent university, I hope I
have told my program advisor before I transferred. They even told me that I
could have applied for leave of absence if I just want to leave for one or two
years. How nice!
But I didn't tell them until the last minute, I missed the chance, and brought
trouble to them too.
That says, if your boss is an American guy, he will understand and may help
you.
If your boss is some Chinese or Indian or some unreasonalbe person, i
