Go to the top school if you want to get into academics. Do a postdoc with a
big name after graduation.

IEEE fellow is nothing. every tenured professor in UIUC EE can
soon or later become a fellow if he/she likes.
Each year, 300 new fellows are added, meanwhile, the number of
people who have ability to get in UIUC EE would smaller than 30.

you are right a lot of IEEE fellow now. but many good professors are in other
good univ
just want to know I should pursue PhD under an excellent advisor
or I should pursue PhD under a potential excellent advisor
and, of course, UIUC is a big name.
