想问问微软15刀的windows 8 升级，可以用在fresh install上面吗？
我新买一个laptop给家里人，有个免费升级windows 8的rebate，能够保留原机的win 7
，然后用升级新装一台机器吗？

Not really. Try doing a fresh install with an upgrade key. You can't. So if
you ever want to wipe your machine, you'll have to install Windows 7 (or
whatever OS), and then install Windows 8 from there. Pain in the butt. It's
also causes less issues doing a fresh install versus an upgrade.

微软是用一个小文件控制升级的。

If you have an upgrade license of Windows OS, you can always do a clean
installation. The trick is that: download the DVD iso and burn it into a
disc. Fresh install the OS, but don't input the key, don't activate the copy
, and do not install any system updates. Then from the OS system, run the
installation again, and input the license this time, then your installation
should be considered as the authentic copy.
I have no problemst with Vista, and Windows 7. I assume it should work with
Windows 8 as well.
