My first "serious" CD Player is a Marantz 67SE which retailed for $500.
Quite a lot of money in 98 for a student. The 67SE is fine compared to mass
market Japanese stuff. But the sound is too bright on top end, not very
refined, and bass is lacking. I bought the original MSB LINK DAC later, and
heard some improvement in all aspects. The top is little tamed, more body
to the mid, and bass also improved. Right now I am running a Meridian 596
DVD player as a CD player without DAC. Meridian is l
