We are looking for a responsible, independent and motivated individual to
fill the full-time Student Services Associate position at a university in
Boston.
Primary job responsibilities
- Assist with course registration and student registration
- Provide administrative support to ensure program operation
- Maintain various records and databases (faculty files, students’ rosters,
bio info, etc.)
- Assist with advising tour in China
- Assist with the bridge term which includes
1. Assist with staff training (material preparation, logistics, etc.)
2. Assist with airport pickup arrangements and coordination for USPP
students
3. Assist with registration related arrangements and coordination after
students’ arrival
4. Assist with successful destination university admission from summer
bridge and transfer of I-20 forms for students
5. Assist with accommodation applications and confirmation for USPP students
in the US, especially for those clearing students who have not made the
accommodation applications in advance.
6. Assist with providing student support services during their stay in the
US
A. Advising services for students’ study, life and various problems
B. Assist to resolve various problems that students meet
C. Coordination with universities for relevant issues
D. Assisting staff with emergencies or incidents when necessary
7. Assist to create and execute Summer Bridge social and cultural activity
plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
8. Assist to procure necessary resources for the activities
9. Assist to manage day-to-day aspects of wrap-around activity development
10. Assist to evaluate for wrap-around activities to obtain feedback from
students
- Participate in all social and cultural activities
- Maintain the program email inbox
- Provide support to other units/departments within the university as
necessary
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree in relevant discipline (
education administration, student counseling, etc.) preferred
- Candidate should have lived in mainland China for at least 18 years with
full bilingual ability in Chinese Mandarin and English
- Eligible to work full time (35 Hours/Week)
- Proficient with MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and other essential
office equipment
- Can work independently under pressure to meet deadlines
- Responsible and detail orientated
- Flexible and able to work during evenings and weekends as required
Hours and Compensation
Employment starts on January 2nd, 2013 and ends on December 20th, 2013.
Hourly position without benefits. Pay will depend on candidate’s experience
; range is $13-$15 per hour. Normal business hours are Monday-Friday from 8:
30am-4:30pm, with a one hour lunch break. 35 hours per week. Some weekend
and night work is necessary, particularly between April-August.
Reporting
The STUDENT SERVICES ASSOCIATE will report to the assistant director of the
program.
