If you read the cases on this board, you'll notice there's no such line as 10% or 20% percentile in the applicants' pool. The standards are described by words, but not numbers, and it's actually a hard job for anyone, including the IOs, to decide who satisfies the requirements and who does not. If you read the approval/denial rates for EB1A and EB1B in last five years: http://tinyurl.com/3cxm36d You'll see that the absolute approval numbers become similar between EB1A and EB1B, which means that there are less people who go for EB1B, maybe because the company/university's bureaucracy, etc can be so hideous that people would rather go for EB1A directly. The ones who are denied can have very strong background, as we see on this board. They are not satisfied with the results, of course, but USCIS is like any government agency, who does not want to admit their mistakes, so appealing often ends up being denied still. It's much quicker to re-apply and many people get approved the second time.

hehe, you have found the key, aka, 自我吹捧, and with evidences to support each of your statements. If you don't have any evidence, don't mention it. If you have some weaker points, try to present them in another stronger way. For instance, if the total number of citations is not big, you could talk about how many countries/institutes have cited your papers, and among them, which are the famous ones, etc. As to your strengths, haha, you know what to do. :-)
