Sorry a stupid question:
If I havent' java installed, is it possible to open .jar in windows or Linux?
I just want to open and read the code.

it looks good in theory, but how do they keep them alive in real life?

In the windows, you can use winzip, winrar software to open it.

use unzip at Unix
