是直接问么?
how is the promotion opportunities of this postion?
还是有什么比较委婉的方法啊?
另外还有,是不是可以问一下boss组里都是什么背景的人?
不知道是否合适问。

During job interview, you have only one goal: Keep selling yourself.
Focus on selling your self even you are asking questions.
Therefore, "how is the promotion opportunities of this postion?" is NOT a
good questions to ask.
Company want to hire people who is willing to be a slave. Nobody wil hire
you if you ask if you can be a manager for him ...

Instead of using the word "promotion", ask about career development.

I totally agree selling yourself is very important during an interview. In
my opinion, its also a good time to find out if this is the right
opportunity for you. Do you fit in with culture? Can the company provide you
the career growth you desire? It also shows that you have a genuine
interest in the company.
Also a reputable company would not want a slave. They want someone that can
bring the company new ideas, new skills.

i think usalaotu is right on this one.
I interviewed one guy with my manager, he's on top of the list on tech
skills. At the end he asked his potential of grown in the company, and he
said "he can't stop, need room to grow, that's his nature". I'm almost
certain that my non techie manager nixed him because he's too aggressive...
Just my 2 cents.

if your goal is to become a manager, then find a place which allows that to
happen. Being honest is beneficial for both sides.

We can look at your example from two sides.
1. Your manager might have a handful of guys who are eager to grow on his
team, and he need to balance it out by hiring someone who is less aggressive
.
2. Its also a good thing for the candidate since he won't be happy after he
joins. If the potential of growing is truly important to him, this is not
the right opportunity.
Personally, I think a capable manager should be able to help his reports to
grow. And usually its easier to motivate people like that than someone who
just doesn't care.

Also growing can mean a lot of things. You can continue to grow as an IC as
well, doesn't always mean someone wants to be a manager when he talks about
growth.
