什么时候跟现在的公司提离职？

什么时候跟现在的公司提离职？# JobHunting - 待字闺中

刚拿到新公司的offer，2月2号开始。
新公司要做background check and verification of employment and education，不
知道要多久。
旧公司要求离职的话要提前两周说。
这样若是等到background check结束确定没问题的时候再跟他们说离职，要么赶不上2
月2号新工作开始的日期，要么不够提前两周，很矛盾。
不等background check完就提离职，又怕万一出点什么岔子新旧工作都黄了。
这个问题大家一般都怎么解决的？

难道不是所有东西都clear了才能确定start 时间吗？

给offer的时候电话里直接问什么时候能开始，我说两周，然后时间就写的两周之后。
当时其实应该考虑background check的事，太兴奋给忘了。后来收到offer letter，看
到上面有这个check，才想起来。

难道不是等到新h1b彻底approved以后再提离职？

Call the HR department that you need to change the starting date b/c you
need standard 2 weeks notice for your current employer after the background
check is clear.
IMHO it should not screw up your offer at all and it is a reasonable request.
I won't think your future manage care much if you start one week later for a
new hirer.
Lets us kwow how it goes.

Most of the jobs in US are at-will. That means either you or your employer
can terminate then employment any time. If your current company does not
have a contract with you about the two week notice specifically. Then the
two week notice is just a general business practice. Usually for a non-
managing employee it's just fine. Of course this is case by case.
I just quit my job from a large company. I gave a one week notice. And my
manager told me I didn't even have to. It's just good business conduct.
