一道Capital One Case Interview的题目# JobHunting - 待字闺中

最近在准备Capital One的Case Interview,翻到版上一道老题,想跟大家讨论一下。
原问题是:
Now we would like to compare two approaches:
1) Tel-marketing (make direct phone calls to potential customers)
2) Direct Mail (send mails to potential customers)
Suppose the cost will be $1.00 per call, $0.50 per mail.
Suppose the contact rate will be 50% for phone calls (assume that
each call cost $1.00 no matter the customer is contacted or not),
and 100% for direct mail.
Suppose the successful rate for those made through phone calls is 6%
for direct mail is 2%.
Suppose the profit for bringing in each customer is $100.
Which approach is better, and why?
------------------------------------------------------------------------
这个题目比较tricky,两种出发点:
1) Fixed Budget:
Suppose we have $100 budget:
Call:
# of calls: $100 / $1 = 100
# of contacts: 100 * 50% = 50
# of success: 50 * 6% = 3
Revenue: $100 * 3 = $300
Profit: $300 - $100 = $200
Direct Mail:
# of mails: $100 / $0.5 = 200
# of contacts: 200
# of success: 200 * 2% = 4
Revenue: $100 * 4 = 400
Profit: $400 - $100 = $300
Conclusion: We should choose Direct Mail
2) Fixed # of Customers:
Suppose we have 100 customers
Call:
Cost: 100 * $1 = $100
# of contacts: 100 * 50% = 50
# of success: 50 * 6% = 3
Revenue: $100 * 3 = $300
Profit: $300 - $100 = $200
Direct Mail:
Cost: 100 * $0.5 = $50
# of contacts: 100
# of success: 100 * 2% = 2
Revenue: $100 * 2 = $200
Profit: $200 - $50 = $150
Conclusion: We should choose Tel-Marketing
3) Fixed Budget, Fixed # of Customers:
Suppose we can reach out to 150 customers but we only have $100 budget, how
should we allocate resources to the two marketing approaches?
如果不用方程组的话,第三种情况应该怎么求解?
求各位大神帮助
