(Political Action Committee)

We may want to be aware that unless an individual is running, one does need
to care about hooking in with blacks and Hispanics. Play politics without
truly understanding politics is like negotiating AGAINST oneself. One
shouldn't do it.
It's true that we only want to stop whatever policy that discriminates
against us. See my recent answer to a journalist:
Dear XXX:
Here is the general answer. Thank. Good luck with your article. SB
Yes, policies can produced un-intended consequences. Worse, a policy
that was intended to help minorities for historic wrongs can be executed in
a way that made the smallest minority in America, Asian Americans, the most
discriminated in work places and in entering elite colleges.
Affirmative action (AA) was an example of how a policy can be completely
distorted during its implementation. AA was intended to help minorities
which were historically wronged. Asian Americans were on the received ends
of discriminations perhaps more so than Hispanics. Recall the Chinese
Exclusion Act that was in force from 1882 to 1943 and the internment of
Japnese Americans, although not of German and Italian Americans, during WWII
. So how is one to understand that after more than 5 decades of AA,
(1) Asian Ams. youngsters need to score 140 point higher than whites to have
equal chance to enter elite colleges, according to Princeton sociologist
Thomas Espenshade, and
(2) Asian Am adults face the lowest glass ceilings when compared with all
other Americans, a conclusion verified in written by EEOC Chief Statistician
Ronald Edwards? See figure 1 below:
What could have caused such a diametrically opposite effect in a policy?
(1) America's democracy responds to squeaking wheels.
Asian Ams are not fond of squeaking. Hence, when others squeaked loudly
asking for their share of compensation for the historic wrongs, Asian Ams
became the sacrificial lamb used to create
the "compensation" needed to quite the others.
(2) Prejudice and discrimination rise out of bigotry and/or a desire to
create an unfair advantage for those in power in any zero-sum competition.
Admission to elite colleges is a zero-sum game. About a century ago, the
elite colleges tried to limit the number of completely qualified Jewish
students. Today, Asian Americans are the new Jews in the college admission
games.
Pretexts employed to limit AsAm enrollment are indistinguishable from
those utilized to impose quotas against Jewish Americans throughout much of
the past century. The equivalent of the current "top 10%" was the "top
seventh of qualifying schools" adopted by Harvard early last century.
Today's' fuzzy notion of "diversity" and "comprehensive review" were matched
by past emphasis of ill-defined "character, leadership and social
compatibility" used to limit Jewish students.
AsAms are not just good test takers. For example, in 2006, they were 27%
of Presidential Scholars, who are chosen based on scholarship, service,
leadership, and creativity.

The blacks and Hispanic leaders are extremely aware and accustomed to
the timidity the Asian Am leaders in D.C.. Show them our tough side, things
will get better. You may not believe it. But have you played in American
politics?
Do practice American politics. IN america, play American politics which is
extremely rough and tumble.
