昨天不是要求我们Builder帮我们装attic fan嘛，builder 不愿意说是does not want
to be responsible for the possibility of leaks as a result of putting in
attic fans.怎么回事？

更新更新，昨天和我们indpector通了电话，他说builder告诉他我们有ridge vent，但是他觉得不work所以没有写在我们report里面。现在就是不知道怎么检验ridge vent work 不work，我们builder不承认不work.

分特，俺说了两次，你没注意看？屋顶要菊一个洞出来装饭，没有弄好雨水就从洞漏进
来，长了美军就麻烦大了。所以俺说如果ridge vent work，就ridge vent，这东西不
开洞
当然装好了应该也没问题，你自己决定啦

yes, it would increase the chance of having a leak.. but it was was
installed correctly, then the risk is not really a big deal.

装 sink 可能会使 kitchen 漏,
装 toilet 可能会使 bathroom 漏,
Do you still 装 them?
A correctly installed attic fan does not 漏, actually cheap roof (like 3 tab
) will 漏 sooner for sure.

不是我没有注意看，是我水平问题。如果夏天的时候，我拿两个电风扇到阁楼上对着吹

就像LS说的，其实装好了没啥事啦，这是builder不愿意担这个责任而已，就像你去拔
牙医生让你签”不负责任“的合同，即使风险在校

昨天问了好多次了，装个ridge vent要多少钱，您一直没有回答我啊，有人说是个很大
的工程，建议以后换屋顶的时候再弄。

具体不知道多少钱，俺家的ridge vent的确是在换屋顶的时候做的（所以俺狠奇怪新房
居然做屋顶时不做这个）
班上好像有人做home inspection的，他们可能知道要多少钱

vent就可以， 不要装fan. 你自己好好网上research一下， 装fan没什么好处的。

Oh, come on, you can trust a builder than manage to mess up an attic fan
with ridge vent? There is a higher chance for them to go wrong, and when
that does happen, it's a bigger mess.

vent现在有啊，就是屋檐上的soffit vent,但是阁楼还是很闷热，不透气

其实是builder不想装,找个借口啦,你房顶上的洞洞已经多的很,上水管,排气扇,天窗.不
差这一个.当然你也不能说builder错,确实多一个洞,多一点漏的可能.attic fan不一定
非要屋顶打洞,如果有侧面墙,也可以打洞装风扇

soffit vent是进气，attic空间太大的话，就需要＂出气＂的vent。

if you are handy, try figure it out yourself:
pick a hot day, go up to roof top, put your hand close to the vent, see if
there is air blow out.
or, simpler, after a hot day, before sunset, stand underneath your eave, see
if you can feel the air comes down from soffit vent.
or, simpler, call inspector again, ask for the specific reason he has with
his claim.

I think you should fire your inspector. it's ridiculous that he didn't put
it on his report because he thinks it doesn't work.

我们inspector就是按照你说的第一种方法，说是把手放在vent旁，没有感觉到有气流
通过，所以他认为不work.如果真的不work，怎么修呢？

我也挺恼火的，一直以为没有ridge vent,以前一直不知道这个东西，inspector和
builder对话的时候也没有听懂，昨天打电话给inspector才知道原来有这个ridge vent。

If your inspector was only "guesstimated" and don't have real proof against
the vent, you should find a contractor /roofing expert /city inspector to
get a second opinion on it. Or go up to the vent yourself.(but be safe) You
can also ask your inspector to put his opinion in written. Otherwise he
should refund your inspection money for making a misleading report.
The thing is, you'd better not pointing fingers at builder until you can be
certain that the vent is "not working". What you want now is their cooperate
to solve the potential issue, not their apology of the (might-be) mistake.
