dry the water from the pool, otherwise, water becomes ice and then will make
crack on the pool surface.....

make
big NO NO! never drain a swimming pool if you do not know what you are doing!
if you have a safety pool cover, you are fine, it is designed to hold heavy
weight. Normally a safety cover has a drain in the middle. If your cover
does not have a drain, you can get a simple siphon cover drain for have one like this below, works well after I seal the connections with
calking:

thanks for the tips. the cover appeared to be very strong because the
inspector walked on it when the pool had water. Now it was half full, I
believe part of the winterizing service, I am concerned whether the cover
can hold one feet of snow, especially after it converts into ice.
