现在的apartment已经租了3年了，以前一直很满意。但是最发生了2起入室盗窃，一个
是我家邻居家大白天被break-in了，另一个发生在旁边的一栋楼里（和我住的楼是紧连
在一起的，属于一个楼的两个单元）。两起盗窃都发生在一楼，导致一楼的邻居不管是
被偷的没被偷的都吓得搬走了。更可怕的是邻居们都怀疑盗窃的是新搬进半地下室的两
个青年（1白1黑），但是并没有确实的证据（我是宁可信其有：1.有一家出门10分钟就
被盗了。2.楼的大门只有本楼的人才有钥匙，其他人进来只能跟着楼里的人进，警察调
查过，邻居家10分钟内无人进楼。3.警察来敲门的时候他家门人回应，警察走后有邻居
听到里面说话。4.一堆邻居都怀疑他们）。因为我的lease还有一年，没法像邻居那样
不续租搬走，所以就给房东写了封信要求要么中止lease，要么给我换一个他们公司的
apartment，要么安防盗门（我们apartment的门都是木门，一脚可以踹开那种）。结果
今天房东公司给我回了一封信，我一看，很牛啊，让我一拳打在棉花上了。我把信贴在
最下面了。
我也知道按道理说已经续租后要求换房比较伤人品，但是这个事情确实很烦，主要是那
个贼可能就住在我楼下。现在这事情搞的我天天出去买菜还要把laptop和ipad带着。但
台式机，显示器，电视什么的就带不走了。rent insurance以前没用过，可以考虑买，
不过还是想先搬走再说。
版上的版友们有人有类似经验或者建议么？
房东的回信：
I am responding to your concerns about the break-in last week. We very much
care for the safety of our residents. We have contacted the police and
will confer with them. We will take all suggestions from them to heart. We
do understand that the apartment door was quite often wide open during the
day while the occupants were using the laptop clearly visible to those
passing by the door way. We have not had any other breakin in this building
ever. Do know that you can purchase for approximately $100.00 Renters
Insurance. Someone could enter the building after someone just entered.
Break-ins do occur unfortunately. We do screen our applications very
carefully and obtain credit reports from all who have social security
numbers. We will follow the advise of the police and report back to you as
soon as we have more information. Thanks for contacting us
