A long story, many elements of the tragedy are still relevant today.
1. Police corruption and standby to let mobs do their dirty deeds
2. Votes rigging,
3. jury rigging,
4. mob violence,
5. wealth envy,
6. internal Chinese factions,
7. unjust laws that created a lot of hidden problems in Chinese community
who are not used to fighting them above board, see the case of a man
arrested for violating the ban on exporting chips to China (which is ok to
export to a lot of countries, but not China)
8. underrepresentation of Chinese-Americans in the PR machine
There were also bright spot (Sheriff James Burns and other bystanders and
the writer who spent a year to research this story).
Let's honor compassionate people who stood by their principles
and search for truth.
