原文是这样写的——
The nonprofit organization conducted 50 tests of small landlords, management
companies and housing complexes in Jefferson and Orleans parishes between
July and August. The mystery shoppers were identical in every way, except
for race, according to the fair housing center.
The investigation found that 42 percent of housing providers quoted more
lenient background check policies to white testers, gave them the benefit of
the doubt when it came to their criminal convictions, provided advice on
how to navigate the system and encouraged them to follow through with the
application process, promising positive results, while discouraging black
applicants.
不是说查犯罪记录就是种族歧视，而是业主在同样查出犯罪记录之后，对白人租客更加
宽容。在某些治安不好的地区，大约是个人身上都背着点记录；作为房东，横竖要收一
个垃圾，无非是在白垃圾和黑垃圾之间选择谁的问题；一部分人在这种情况下选择了白
垃圾。我其实比较好奇另外那58%的人是什么情况，一视同仁还是有偏向黑垃圾的。
