CNN’s Jake Tapper mocked President Trump’s press team during the opening
of his show on Monday for its use of the phrase “alternative facts.”
"Lot of talk by the Trump team of alternate facts this weekend. Here's an
alternate fact! I'm Wolf Blitzer, and you're in the ‘Situation Room.' 'The
Lead' starts right now,” Tapper said.
“The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer” airs the hour after Tapper’s show.
The joke was a reference to Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway’s weekend
comments when she said White House press secretary Sean Spicer provided
reporters with “alternative facts” about the crowd size at Trump's
inauguration Friday.
“You’re saying it’s a falsehood. And they’re giving, Sean Spicer, our
press secretary, gave alternative facts to that,” Conway said on NBC’s “
Meet the Press.”
