All had been well debated by the pros and cons, I just would like to shed
some non-main stream thoughts.
Although we don't want to change our parents' living habit, it still our
responsibility to communicate with them about the value and attitude of our
lives. Not only us, our parents are also a path to show our future
generation our culture and values. It is said: "It is never late to learn"
or to put it in another way:" Life is a learning experience.".
I am not saying that recycling is not a dignified life habit; instead it is
something that we show to our future generation our responsibility of
keeping our planet green. The main point of the whole discussion is what and
where is appropriate.
So, what we can do to communicate with our parents can be:
CANS:
(1) All recyclable items that are consumed within own household
(2) Anything from public garbage can or on the ground
DO NOT DOs:
(1) No digging in recycle bin or trash bin of other households
(2) No digging in recycle bins in public area
We need to trust that our parents have the wisdom and respect to gradually
accept the common sense: respect public property and private property by not
digging through trash/recycling bins that don't belong to their kids.
With all said, it is also our wisdom to effectively communicate such to our
