Depends on how the company is structured, limited liability or
unlimited liability. Typically, shareholders of public companies
have limited liability. When such companies file Chapter 7,
remaining assets are distributed to creditors due to a priority
list. Shareholders have the lowest priority hence will
get nothing for their investment.
