Well, here is another suggestion if you are already accepted at a law school and done with LSAT. Try your best to find a legal-related job first. If you manage to find one, defer your law school for a year, or two. Accumulating some work experience is critical in securing an internship, and securing a prestigious internship is critical to landing an associate job at a top firm upon graduation.
1. No particular advantage for Chinese. If there is a profession in the US that is notorious for racial discrimination, law is probably as bad as it gets. How many Chinese coming here after college can TALK and WRITE better than an American who has been immersed in the American cultural and business context since birth? 2. MBA and JD are probably just as versatile. My ex-boss, a JD from Yale, is a top marketer at a prominent hi-tech firm. McKinsey, BCG, Goldman, Merrill etc. certainly hire lots
3/5 years ago loads of Chinese MBAs join IB, Consulting firms in the domestic offices. Today, if you don't already have a GC, unless you are just exceptionally good, slim chance that you will even get an offer from their China office. Even 3/5 years ago, LLMs were hired here to do home-country-related practice. Why should American law firms hire a foreign national with only one-year study experience in the US to do American legal practice? I agree with you. LLM is a great degree for returning to
Plenty of in-house jobs around, less pay but much better lifestyle. Some of them switch career midway to become an investment banker, a bus dev director, a marketing VP etc. All kinds of stuff.

Chinese goverment is already infamous for not caring its people, be they at home or abroad. It is a good idea not to count on it too much. To express patriotism, one should start with helping his own family, friends and relatives... Strange as it may seem, this could be done easier if he becomes an American citizen. Did you guys receive emails from S.B.Woo? He is trying to unite Asian Americans. The other solution is to increase the population of Chinese Americans. After all, as long as we are a
