Longa
cre不错,而且算便宜的,不知大家还有没有别的过于复习的建议.
不好意思,问题这么多.恳请大家帮忙~

en, more and more ph.d rushed into this area. Right now, it is highly
competitive le.
If you have a GC, that's not a bad way. Otherwise, it is very difficult for
you to get permission to take the bar. I heard that the USPTO will prohibit F1
applicants to take this exam, but not quite sure. Good luck.

you have a Ph.D., the first thing you should take care of is GC.
patent bar can wait, GC can't.
there are only two situations in which you can take the patent bar:
1) GC holder
2) H1B holder working in a law firm.
also, passing the patent bar does not automatically get you a job. check the
greed IP board in www.infirmation.com to see some market sentiment.
on the other hand, if you are good -- solid technical background, good
language skills, good personality, and willing to be a work horse; y

Puff is always helpful.
Do law firms hire foreign PhDs now with the job market like that? There are
a ton of PhD/JDs out there looking for jobs.
Also, if someone has all the merits you listed, he/she will be making a lot
of money no matter which road they choose:)

Yeah, I am aware of the increasing competitiveness especially under such
economic conditions. Great success always belongs to the pathfinder. I am
only one of the successors here and hope to make the career change when it’s
not too late. Good luck to all of ppl here.

Thanks for encouragement.I do have GC. I know it's gonna be very hard to find
a related job even I pass the patent bar but without any experience. But do
you think it's gonna help for the application to the law school? Or I should
not limited myself too early in the IP field. I remember there were some
discussion here about this topic in this board.
Thanks!

I think life is never easy. For those ppl who went through this path well
before our knowledge of the existence of this career, it must be very hard for
them too. I believe if we work hard enough, we can do it too. Enother issue
is, I hope when I graduate which should be four years later, the market is at
least better than now.
Based on my observation, you are one of the pessimists here. Actually I am too
and I also think this is the biggest drawback in my personality, for
everything, not only

if you already have GC, you should first focus on finding a patent drafter
position (technology specialist, as called at some firms). this way, you can
have a good estimate of the market. maybe they will require you to take the
patent bar, maybe not. it's very firm and individual case-specific.
if you can secure such a position before you even start law school, you will
be playing a totally different game against very few competitors.
you can reverse-engineer the network to find patent attorn

Thanks for not using the other word staring with pa...
I am cautious about making choices. I have most of the merits otheme listed,
but I do not have a GC.
I am trying to avoid making the same mistakes again, jumping into something
I never know whether I am going to like. I can help most of my lab mates with
their experiments, but I can not make myself love what I do. I do not want
to be paid $1000/h sitting in front a con-focal every day.
I know things do change with time, but changes can go ei

Thank you very much for the suggestions. They are very helpful. I am already
working on it. Have you worked as Patent Agent or sth related before? I don't
see many jobs out there. I think I'll contact some attorneys who file patents
for our department first to see what kind of opportunities out there, even for
some volunteering work.

You are absolutely right about making choice especially for such a big
commitment we are talking about. I never am a risk taker in my life. Actually
I never really made any life-change decision in my life. I regret very much
for choosing my current major. I really want to do sth to change it when it's
not tooooo late.
Just curious, what's con-focal?

being economically conservative is not a bad thing, but once the risk analysis
and the equations are worked out, and the answer is positive, there is no
reason to hold back.
the choice to be a patent agent/attorney, like the choice to practice law, is
an economic one for many people. while patent prosecution suits some people,
it might be a nightmare to others.
you will be facing a computer monitor for 90% of your time, but you will be
making top-tier money compared with other lawyers on the sa

I will die in 5 years.
I believe there are something out there I will enjoy. I can not tell now
whether I hate science, my field, or I just hate facing failure after
failure. I used to enjoy science, thinking about experiments in my dreams.
I know people who spent big money going to law school, business school,
or Med school, got a job, and hated it. Quit after 2 years. As a non-GC
holder, there will be some financial risk to commit to any of these, but
in the end, I worry that I might not like
