Marx picked up on Hegel's view of history as a process that leads to
increased freedom as time goes on. But where Hegel was thinking about
intellectual freedom , but Marx was thinking about political and economic
freedom. Like Hegel, Marc was a determinist to some extent. He believed that
the way people live is determined by the " relations of production". In
other words, people's lives are determined by the way they make, distribute,
and use material goods.
Although Marxis s famous materialist , he started off as a Romantic poet,
