前次看到哪位高手写颜色的英文诗,很棒,我也胡驺一首。轻拍!
Slow
After dropping off my 7 year old’s take-home binder at the school,
I pulled onto Spring Meadow.
All of a sudden everything 100 yards ahead of me seemed blurry
As if they were not things, but ideas
It appears that
my vision has deteriorated over night
but how can this be?
When everything else in life happens slowly
You see
Our bodies slowly losing their shapes
Parts that used to be well tucked in slowly protruding
Protruding ones slowly caving
Full ones slowly deflating
Flat ones slowly mushrooming
Equally slowly
affection spent
memories stale
dreams dwarfed
So is death
what a patient gardener
inch by inch
foot by foot
yard by yard
he rakes and tills us, preparing us for the moment
when he finally sods us
till our bodies are covered with his green moss
When everything in life is slow
life itself is death in slow motion
my sudden downturn of vision
seems strangely exciting
in a late August morning.
