Hi, I installed XFCE, I can manually startxfce4 after I login console, but
when I set
/etc/inittab as init:5:...,
server won't boot into X11, so I think I need some rpm packages to handle X
boot?

I figured this out already, installed xdm then also tried gdm,
I can run xdm or gdm by root, that will bring up login interface.
But it still won't boot into X automatically........
help help....

at least the train of thought is right.
I suppose the bootscript for gdm should be in /etc/init.d,
but in that dir i didn't find anything about gdm.
I guess maybe there is a rpm including this boot script to be installed?

ln -s /etc/init/gdm /etc/rc3.d/S99gdm

whereis gdm
gdm: /usr/sbin/gdm /etc/gdm /usr/share/gdm
so I guess ln -s /usr/sbin/gdm /etc/rc5.d/S99gdm?
There is no /etc/init, only /etc/init.d but no gdm.

nope, no X was started upon boot.
crap, so I copyied S99gdm to /etc/rc3.d, and now Xorg, gdm are started upon
boot.
but i don't know if they work properly as now I am sshing back through
terminal though.
It seems upon boot fedora didn't read /etc/inittab? In all above cases, i
set init:5:defaults:

ls /etc/init.d/*gdm*
that's what you need

dude, it works, ln -s to /etc/rc3.d
It appears it don't read inittab and ln -s /etc/rc5.d, that's so weird...
when I set at init:5, it should read /etc/rc5.d right?

【在 N****w 的大作中提到】
