home owner's association (HOA) fee.
some houses especially rural ones or older ones may not be
in an association. some associations are not mandatory.
the fee typically goes for improving common area in the neighborhood,
and facilities like pool, playground etc.
each association also have many rules on neighborhood things that
you may have to follow. you have can have your voice/vote on such
rules and other things...
