专家:太平洋沿岸地区也将发生大地震极可能是加州综合新闻
美国地质勘探局的专家日前发出警告，称美国太平洋沿岸地区也将发生大地震，地点极
有可能是加利福尼亚州。
综合媒体3月3日报道称，美国地质勘探局(USGS)局长麦库特表示，这场地震将威胁
到美国40个州的7,500万人，其中太平洋沿岸的加利福尼亚州最危险。他说：“这场灾
难不是是否会发生，而是何时发生的问题。”加州政府防灾预警中心地震海啸处处长吉
姆·戈尔茨也形容这场灾难“酝酿已久”，并且无论在强度上还是带来的灾害程度上都
堪称巨大。
美国地质勘探局同时表示，除加州外，华盛顿州的西雅图、阿拉斯加州，还有邻国
加拿大都面临强震威胁，地震将波及整个北美大陆的太平洋海岸地区。麦库特认为，美
国应该及早做好应对大地震的准备：“当我看到智利的高速公路及桥梁被地震摧毁的报
道时，我就担心，这种景象也将出现在美国。”
北美大陆与阿拉斯加、阿留申群岛以及俄罗斯东部构成了北美板块，北美板块与太
平洋板块接壤并发生挤压碰撞，形成了北美大陆西海岸的山脉。这里地壳活跃，是地震
灾害频发地区。地质勘探局科学家哈利·本兹表示，尽管科学家已经了解了地质构造和

胡扯。I didn't have to buy it.
If an earthquake wipes out California, and if the US still exists, then
everybody will be bailed out by the federal government. If the quake is
big enough to wipe out the US, nobody will be there to handle your claim
anyway. So you are wasting your money...

不过要实小地震，大家都没啥事，结果你的房子有些地方因为地震有一些structure的
damage，这样是不是就比较划算了？没研究过，还是这种damage不包呢？

若是小地震，保险的高deductible也不cover small losses. 还是白买。

15% of replacement cost and the policy is sold by the California
Earthquake Authority only. For a $1m house you would pay the first $150K
damage before the insurance kicks in. That's a lot of damage. Let's say
you have less than $150K equity in the house, would it make more sense to

rebuild cost is not the price of your house.
The rebuild cost of 1 M house in Cal is probably 200K. So 15% of that is
only 30K.

200K is the rebuilding costs of most of the single family two story house.
now matter how high the coverage is, the insurance company will only pay you
the rebuilding cost.

我知道，我是说200k rebuild一个加州大部分地区的1M耗子难，我觉得一般情况怎么也
得三四十万。除非是很好的区，地超级贵，1m就是个小房子
我的房子home dwelling还20万出头呢，我的房子离1m可远着呢

是说200k的建造费。不是售价。售价里很多都是地价
保险公司又不给你保地，地又跑不了

Equity 超过15% 的，还是值得好好考虑。
最近地质很活跃，关心买地震险的人也在上升。

估计这里的人多数用conventional loan，那downpay 一般20%以上吧。
equity 大于15% 的deductible.
目前的局势，买了比裸奔强。

the loan is only nonrecoursable for your primary residency
if you have more than one houses, you cannot simply walk away
without bankruptcy
