Don't worry... I had the same issue... I noticed basement water sign before
i bought my house.
Consulted with my associates, who are architects. They all told me that
there is no way to prevent water to go into basement unless you do water
proof each year. It is normal that you have to fix the leak whenever you
found a crack... The underground water, trees, your house weights change the
stress all the time and created cracks on your wall for water to get into
your basement all the time. That is why you need sum-pump in basement. But
as long as the crack is minor and the water is not large amount, you should
be ok.
I lived with my basement for 2 years now and fixed small leaks on wall once
a year, never had major issue. Basement had been kept dry, no mold... I had
1 dehumidfier there though.
