Seller want 10k more. We don't agree. We signed our cancellation form and our agent submit it to escrow before contingency removal date. Seller still hasn't signed on it after several days. Why they are doing this? Do they still hope to sell the house, or they just try to slow down the process? I don't get it. If wait for more days, any bad influence? Are there any deadlines they have to sign it?

then no worry lah, write a nice letter to company B saying Your company is an excellent company .... and I would really like to join.... Unfortunately I've already ..... they'll understand

Might be a good idea to ask your professors or those in the same profession. If this is a big or broad area, will not hurt you. However, you cannot go to B company any more. If this is a small area, it will hurt your reputation.

reason #1. seller out of town; 2. seller still debating whether to compromise--obviously he wants to rid the house; 3. sometimes it's the listing agent giving buyer hard time, not the seller. now there may be disagreement btw the two. for you, you have the right to back out (w/ cause per disclosure) and get full fund of your deposit. just a matter of tiem.

Another twist and turn: Seller agreed on our offering price, but the house go from regular sale to short sale with our offering price. It turned out only those 10k make a huge difference. Now I am debating whether I want to pursue short sale process which won't be smooth. Should I further cut the price a little bit? BTW, the current offering price is still in the regular sale market value, although on the lower end.

don't pursue short sale. If you want the house, take 10k and the house. If you don't, hire a lawyer and send a warning letter to get the earnest money back. 300-500$ helps you solve the problem.
