我不知道东北夏天有多热，我在中部，住过朝西的房子，虽然夏天不是特别热，但是大
太阳从中午之后直晒进屋，一直到晚上8点还都很热，空调开到最大都不行。

我的房子朝向跟你一样，只不过我们房子斜的不一样，我们大门是朝东北的，你们是朝西北的。我们在冬冷夏凉的北方，我觉得这样的朝向挺好。我们朝西那一面主要是墙，只有一个卫生间窗户朝西。夏天开窗西面没有说特别热。冬天关窗，所有方向都有阳光，很暖和。后院朝南，阳光好，对植物好。

In New York at least, west facing rooms gets no sun in winters and a lot of
suns in summers.. Cold in the winter and hot in the summer.

In New England, most houses got a couple of mature deciduous trees on the
sunset side ( well, most of houses here are old and so are the trees ). So,
there is no 西晒 in summer at all. Of course, the sunset is most welcome in
winter (when trees already shed off the foliage.)
Don't buy a due-north/south facing colonial in New England. The snow on the
northern roof would never melt, which causes an imbalance on the loading.

Hehe, new establishment? You need a couple of deciduous trees along the road
, anyway. Got HOA to plant them. Oak and maple are good. I know, I know, oak
rains acorns and maple leaves, but that's nothing a rake can't handle.
If you stick with fruit trees, don't go with anything juicy. The windfalls
stain.
