如果是木头，用exterior spackling paste，如果是stucco,用stucco patch.

tried. looks like not working. the area is big, spackling paste is not easy
to fill big area. I am thinking probably need have primer first, the paint
after it dries. then probably can have that thick layer.

No need to fill the entire area. you can just do edges and sand it smooth.
