我推荐ooma。我用的是ooma一代，完全免费。现在的ooma据说每月要收三五块的税，但
是机器便宜了100块左右，跟一代比，也相当于前3年是免费的。

家里的IP电话，主要考虑的是家里有个LANDLINE电话，可以收打进来的电话。
打国际长途，IP电话，在家有网络，也可以用手机打的。

我用的是nettalk打美国 加拿大 免费。机器带一年的费用是大概56.我选的是DUO wifi

know whether it can be used on regular phones?

I found using a regular phone is no longer attractive. my solution is to
install Talkatone on my ipad, and link it with my google voice number. You
can use it as a landline. I've been using this for months, has been very
reliable (even better than my obi+land phone)

Do you have to have ipad on all the time? I need a phone so I can receive
calls at any time.

yes, of course. you can also install this app on your android phone, as long
as you have wifi, you can make/receive free phone calls.
