may I ask why spread the crabgrass pre-emergent two or three days before
rain?
1) in order to avoid being washed away by rain
2) in order to let rain drip it into soil.
if the answer is 2, can we resolve the pre-emergent into water
and then sprinkle the pre-emergent water into lawn?
what is the ratio we can use?

practice is the only method to prove theories.
separate your lawn into 3 sections.
one section not apply at all.
one section apply normal.
one section apply water solution.
take before, during, and after pictures.
also record every 4 hours the height of the grass, and plot that into a side
