I just checked my medical book "Current Medical Diagnosis and Treatment 2001"
on that. vitiligo is a type of hypopigmentation (low-color).
"In vitiligo, pigment cells (melanocytes) are destroyed. the greater the
pigment loss, the fewer the number of melanocytes. Vitiligo, present in
approximately 1% of the population, may be associated with hyperthyroidism and
hypothyroidism, pernicious anemia, diabetes mellitus, and Addison's disease."
