my mom:
59 y/o female, history of high blood pressure (170/80 w/o medication), CT
found arteriosclerotic lesions w/ a unilateral 50% carotid artery stenosis
on the right side. currently taking aspirin & lopressor. should she
consider lacipil as her first line agent for hypertension instead?
also, what are the early signs of ischemic stroke? any home emergency
treatment to minimize the damage once symptoms occur?
i understand many things in life are irreversible. my heart is broken when

which side is the carotid stenosis on? in addition to blood pressure control
, asa, also check her cholesterol profile and might need to add a statin if
her cholesterol is high,
signs of stroke would be like weakness, numbness on the opposite of her body
from the carotid stenosis, slurred speech and such,
hang in there, take good care,

just looked up, lacipil is a calcium channel blocker that is not available
in the states, if you are concerned of the lopressor's effect or side
effects, you can add another blood pressure meds, either a diuretic like
HCTZ, or the currently popular drug of choice an ACE inhibitor,
HCTZ reduce BP well but might also lower potassium and sodium levels and
makes youpee quite often; ace inhibitor could have a bothersome cough and
might cause angioedema, but is good for people with heart fa
