Olivier Desbarres, formerly of Credit Suisse, was the head of Barclays FX
strategy in Asia. Upset about the noise in his neighborhood, he approached
construction workers that had been building outside his house for 6 months,
and let out the following (you can check out the video here):
“I’m gonna go after you. I’m gonna burn your f**cking house down,” he
shouts in the video. “You have no respect. You know what? You’re f**cking
animals. Chinese f**cking animals... I have a life. I have a family. You
break that, I will find your f**cking family. I can find it very easily — I
’m a man with resources.” The berserk banker, who I can reveal was one
Olivier Desbarres, then snatches up a large sheet of metal and hurls it into
the construction pit, luckily avoiding causing any injuries.”
Debarres, wearing shorts and sandals, only got more enraged when he realized
that he was being video taped (from The Times).
“You’re filming me? You think that’s good? Put your f**cking phone down
because I’m going to wait for you to come out and take that phone and shove
it up your f**cking ass.”
He then picked up a sheet of zinc and hurled it at workers, luckily, hitting
no one.

Barclays Asia Strategist Said to Leave After Berating Workers

Nov. 9 (Bloomberg) -- Barclays Plc’s head of Asia currency strategy
Olivier Desbarres left the bank after a video of him berating construction
workers near his home was posted on the Internet, according to a person
familiar with the situation.
Desbarres left on Oct. 29, said the person, who asked not to be
identified because the information is private. Desbarres joined Barclays in
Singapore from Credit Suisse Group AG in August 2011 as head of currency
strategy for Asia, excluding Japan. Desbarres didn’t return five calls to
his mobile phone, which went straight to voice mail.
A video clip purporting to show Desbarres shouting expletives and
threatening the workers on Oct. 20 was posted by a website run by Singapore
Press Holdings Ltd., which said it was provided by a company which employed
staff at the site.
C. Lim, a spokeswoman for Unison Construction Pte, said today that the
company reported the incident to the police and that Desbarres, whose house
is opposite the site, sent a written apology to the company two days ago.
The Singapore police confirmed in an e-mailed statement that a report had
been lodged against Desbarres and was being investigated.
Clare Williams, a spokeswoman for Barclays Capital in Hong Kong,
declined to comment.
The London-based Times earlier reported the incident.
