Roth is tax-free earning. You use your cash (=income tax has been paid) and
try your best to increase them by investment. No matter how much you earn,
it is tax free.

but if you keep the money in your retirement account for 30+ years
the investment return will most likely be much more than your principal
so even your tax rate now is higher, in ROTH account you will only be taxed
for your principal
