Dear LOI Applicant,
Letters of Intent are used to ensure mission relevance of proposals
submitted to the program. Funding in the AFRI programs is extremely limited
. Historically, we have had success rates as low as 10% percent that
resulted in many proposals being written without a real chance of being
funded. This year, we received over 180 letters of intent for a program
that is unlikely to exceed a 10% funding rate. Letters of Intent save
applicants from taking time to prepare full proposals that will not be a
good fit for the program or have little chance of success. Due to the large
number of letters received and the rapid turnaround time for response, we
are unable to provide detailed feedback on individual letters.
