各位，我现在在购置我的AUDIO SYSTEM. 我试听了几个品牌：B&W, KEF, KLIPSCH,
ENERGY, DEFINITIVE TECHNOLOGY, POLK AUDIO, etc B&W对我来说远远好过其它（除了
一款CANTON的书架音箱，但太贵了）。我试听的B&W是683，3-way floor standing
speakers. 我想买ONKYO 708， B&W 683 AS FRONT MAIN, HTM61 AS CENTER。请大家
给点意见，谢谢。我的BUDGET是FRONT 3 (if needed, I can buy a subwoofer) PLUS
RECEIVER around $2500, maxium $3000. 音乐/电影大致 50/50。

好像有道理。两房不改，大老虎没打还是要出来吃人的。两房的问题其实是政府的问题
，政府要舔穷人的屁股可以，但是不可以打劫其他群体！

8系太贵，我的预算就3000，买不起。打算先买683一对，加个HTM61 CENTER，配个

不喜二手，就目前的预算，只能683了。$1500 per pair这个价钱的，在我听过的几个
牌子里，没有赶得上683的。当然，这跟个人喜好很有关系。就个人感觉，在我试听的
牌子中，大概的喜好程度依次是：
1.B&W,CANTON;
2. DEFINITIVE TECH,KEF;
3. KLIPSCH;
4. POLK AUDIO, ENERGY;
本来对ENERGY挺抱希望的，但听后很失望。CANTON我只听了一对书架音箱，但感觉惊艳
！

are you still looking for other people's opinion, or you are all set? looks
like you really like the 683s, which is certainly fine. But I don't think
anyone else thinks they are a good value at $1500 (plus tax?). If you can
find new or open box kef for under $900, I'd say that's a much better buy.
Human ears are very adaptive. you'll like pretty anything after a while (
while, maybe not Bose)...

这年头很少以MSRP 价格从dealer 买音箱吧.
$1500 真的可以买到比 683好得多的音箱.
不过自己高兴就好。

我也对这个没谱，但预算有限。请帮忙推荐一款900刀以下的，HT和听MUSIC都可以接受
的，而且还得可以ACCESS我的PC里的APE。

I want to find a deal too. But there is no online B&W dealer. And I was told
by the only two authorized dealers in my area that B&W never has discount.
I found a KEF deal. It's last year's model, new, $900 per pair (iq90,MSRP
1500). But I really think B&W 683's sound quality is much better than these.
If I didn't go to demo B&W, probably I will get these.

B&W挺好的，我们都喜欢，不过单从demo体验的这个角度而言，你听别的音箱的时候
dealer那里相应的系统都怎么样？你自己的系统配置是什么？这些都是需要考虑的

dealer should give you at least 10% discount.

what you are saying actually makes me doubt your judgment even more. I have
never heard 683 or iq90, but I know as a fact that 683 can not possibly be
that much better than iq90. maybe you can describe how you demoed/compared
the two. and we can give some advice on how to do a better comparison. I can
tell you it's very difficult to subjectively judge audio performance when
you don't have a good reference (or a lot of experience, for that matter).

I have to say the comparison is not side by side. The KEF dealer is using
some Marantz receiver and B&W dealer is using Rotel. I am not familiar with
receivers but I guess the dealers should know what receivers are good
matching for their speakers. The music I audited is not exactly the same
but there are some same songs/music. My feeling on B&W is much better, the
sound is much fuller, the vocal part (mid range) is especially better than
KEF,the high end is similar and the base is also better.

说到放pC里的音乐，如果你对音质有要求强烈推荐 logitech 的 squeezebox touch,
最近刚买了一个，很方便，很强大：-），音质也很好。

不过KFF的折扣是比较多，网上也有 deal。
比如这对 XQ30, $1400/pair plus ship. 不过好像是open box。

To test speakers, it would be so much better to find a good quality CD of
the kind of music you would listen most. Critically listen it several times
on few pieces at home. Then take the CD to any dealer on any speaker set
with similar volumes that's goign to be closest to apple to apple or A/B
comparison.

708不如807吧，都800刀。
b&W作为影院音箱，评价一直很好，你这一套配起来影院效果应该很不错。
听音乐就放在第二位。
是可以找找deal。

啊？？怎么我看到的大多数review都说B&w683是MUSIC SPEAKER啊? B&W应该首先是
MUSIC SPEAKER.

well, LZ, there you have it. while B&W does have good driver technology, no
one can bend the laws of physics, which means b&w can't use the same cost to
make a speaker even 10% better than KEF, both being serious research driven
hifi companies (different from market driven consumer companies like all
the others on your list aside from canton). no doubt the 683s are overall
the better speakers. but the iq90s can definitely hold its candle with a

oh, btw, the three most important things in audio (means they matter more
than anything else):
1, the recorded material
2, the speakers
3, the room they are played in
looks like 1 and 3 are not controlled here. my personal experience is amp
matters a lot too, but mostly in bass at higher volume.
and like someone in this thread said, you really need to level match the
speakers. without it, you will simply perceive the louder one as better,
period. and out memories can't just tell you which is lou

Thanks a lot guys! I am new in this area and you guys are really helpful.
After listen to you guys and my research, I probably will go to B&W 683 +
HTM61, MARANTZ SR7002 (old model, but I don't need fancy video features like
3D READY. 700 from AMAZON). It will be around 3000 in total. I will buy a
sony PS3 as my blue-ray player and stream my music on PC from there.
This weekend, I will give KEF last chance, try them again. :-)

我用过marantz 8400，看分量应该和7002同级，老个一两代。
总体感觉，marantz是市面上家用AV receiver中，最偏重音乐效果的。音乐方面，比
denon，onkyo，yamaha都强。
影院方面，速度比较慢，不够凌厉。适合看言情片，听片尾曲。
不知道新一代有没有变化。
可能很适合你的需要。

I just bought a marantz 7002 too from amazon a couple of days. now that the
7005 is coming out, the 7002 is a superb deal. marantz has always had a
great emphasis on the mid (where most music is) and lack the power output
required for the bass (in full range audio, half of the power is consumed by
frequencies below 350hz). so this makes marantz not suitable for insensitive
speakers or low impedance speakers. the 683s are fine. but if you want to
play your movie really loud, you can always set yo
