I did it with my husband's help for about 2 weeks. I was not able to carry
my baby because my surgery hurt too much. So he did everything except
nursing the baby. Of course, I had lots of help from my friends. They
brought me food frequently so that I could always have something to eat.
If you are by yourself in the hospital after delivery, I do have some
suggestions. First of all, order lots of foods (enough for you and your
hubby) if your insurance covers everything, so that your husband can share
the food with you and help you if you are in pain. Second, give you baby to
the nurse and ask for help any time you do not feel good. To be honest, we
did not want to go home. (if you have any consideration, just talk with your
nurse, you can get plenty warm food, even chicken soup) You can also ask
for plenty of blankets, formula and little clothes.
After I went to home, slow cooker was my favorite. Food does not taste well,
but good enough to get essential nutrition.
Good luck.
