1. Make sure you don't use more than 90% on one single CL 1170/900 2. Make sure you don't use more 50% of your total CL 1150 3. The way you pay balance off before statement close is fine but certain CC will not give back CL for current month even you pay it off. (It seems in your case, it's fine) 4. Step #3 doesn't increase or reduce your credit score one (#1 and #2 does) 5. Step #3 may or may not cause problem with the CC issuer and it is YMMV. In other words, citi may like it and chase may hate it. There is no absolute rule on this. Again, this is your activities within the issuer ( one specific bank) and will not affect your credit score (public record) as long as this doesn't lead to a negative action (like chase closing your credit card, etc). 6. One more point, for step #1 and #2, even you are over at one moment, as long as you pay off the balance before card's credit reporting date ( generally statement date or sometimes a few days before statement date, varies from card to card), you are fine. Hope this helps.

I am lost here. If you pay your CC before statement closes, you should have $0 balance for statement. Usually, you still have 20-25 days grace period to pay the bill after statement close. What's the problem with the payment? You used a check or billpay?
