Got an on-site invitation. I am supposed to select a topic and prepare a 30-
minute presentation, "to discuss the learning objectives, teaching method
and grading method and how to best deliver the concepts to undergraduate,
Master audience. PhD audience? ( each group of audience has 10 minutes)
I have never taught master and PhD courses. Can anyone who has done so shed
some light ?
The audience for the presentation will be a mixture of faculty and students
( most of them should be undergraduates)

孩子很喜欢出门玩，每次想出门都指着大门对着我说：gogogo！
今天晚上吃完饭了，孩子在厨房端着一小碗绿豆稀饭喝着玩，可是他一边喝一边对着稀
饭吹泡泡，弄得稀饭都漏出来了。他全身都是稀饭，我看到了以后很生气，气冲冲的对
他说：“不好好喝，弄得到处都是，乱七八糟，真是够了！”话音刚落，就看到孩
子满脸堆着笑，放下稀饭碗，火速的冲着大门就跑过去了，然后指着门开心的说：“GO
！”我无语。。。。

工资的问题面试时候没谈，面试后发完thank you email，对方回复问现在工资范围和
要求的工资范围。感觉这个问题很操蛋，尤其是问现在的工资，请问必须如实回答，还
是可以高一点说？对方会有办法查证吗？

在我失业在家的几年里，从来没有抱怨督促过我。还瞒着我偷偷下班以后在外面额外打
工贴补家用。同时在这几年学会并且承担了厨房里面的全部家务。
前几天终于拿到了offer,和老公在外面庆祝感谢他的时候，他说越是困难的时候
越要同心协力，相互理解体贴。听了以后很惭愧，当初他phd毕业的时候opt期间找工作
不是很顺利，我好像没少埋怨过他。
总之要谢谢他，虽然夫妻之间好像没必要这样。现在才发现嫁给他是我的一生中最明智
的决定，如同我婆婆所说，呵呵。

My personal experience:
To undergraduates: deliver concepts with an interesting real world case, and
show them how to solve those cases step by step.
To master's students: deliver concepts with that real world case from
several perspectives, and show them some techniques, then ask them to
identify which techniques could be used to solve the case.
To PhD students: challenge them to identify interesting issues in a real-
world case, ask them to design techniques to solve that case based on their
own perspective, and ask them to comment each other's solutions in terms of
advantages and limitations, contributions, and possible improvements.

诚实回答。
大部分公司都会做背景调查，背景调查中，上一份工作的工资也是调查内容。
有的变态的调查公司甚至要求你提供W2，所以。。。
如果你报的太高，有可能offer 被收回。

好像说要121天以后才给unlocked.
网上有些收几块钱，给你发个unlocked code的那些服务靠谱么？

Thanks Tangpingbo. That was very helpful.
Maybe just describe the strategy and give a couple of examples that's about
it. Plus I need to articulate and slow down my talking. Not a lot can be
done in 10 minutes. am I right?

目前工资偏低，可不可以把bonus，401k 之类的加进去？

Yeah, it is very difficult to cover what I said in 10 min. Describing an
example and the strategies of teaching seem to be the only thing we can do.
Maybe just using one example across all three types of strategies could save
some time.

是啊，这孩子现在被我批评的都脸皮厚了，也不管我说话的时候生气不生气，光挑着好
的词听了，呵呵。
我娃当时早产了3周2天。后来孩子大了也不怎么去宝宝版了，现在养娃遇到情况越来越
多了，就常来这里了，呵呵。

现在工资可以不写，要求的工资可以说：a competitive level for this position.

据俺的理解，这个好像要看机型。有的机型的unlock code是可以由IMEI算出来的，他
们就卖这个。有的算不出，必须跟原厂家要。

Got the offer. 62K 8-month salary. Mid-west area, teaching school. 4-4
teaching load. There are lots of PhDs students in the program. ( weird).
Research is also required to create projects for producing masters and PhDs.

The salary is too low. But I don't have other choice yet.

恭喜恭喜，那里的生活费很低，这个钱很值钱的，呵呵。
如果这样想，工资是8个月，折合成12月不是也不很低。

好像没有什么讲价的余地，给offer的电话里，系头先说，在给定的范围里，已经给了我最高的价，
我就没什么好讨价还价了。感觉一般系头这个级别的不会乱说。再讨价还价显得比
较难看。教学性的学校，好像我的这个方向已经高于平均线。据同系的AP说，
如果spring/summer也教课，可以多拿40％。有已经拿潭牛的full professor 全年教
课，为的是多拿钱。反正闲着也是闲着。看见teaching school里好多教授第一印象
就是可能上课说话多习惯了，一个个就跟瞎白忽蛋似的，说起话来没完没了的
。：）不知道以后自己会不会也变成这样的人。
