打电话到ATT unlock 到期的GALAXY,直接给IMEI,三分钟解决问题. 同样unlock LD's
Iphone, 问了一堆问题,然后转 level 2 support, 然后让我FAX request to 1800-328
-1677,一周了还没消息
我再买iPhone我是猪

No one gains from this. From my experience of chat w/ AT&T reps, they don't
do the actual 'unlock' operation. That's why you have to wait for 10 biz
days and have to use itunes to refresh the phone.

Apple wants to make $50 extra money for the unlocked version iPhone.
ATT has no control for the iPhone in terms of unlocking process.

You were lied to by the att reps. You don't "have to" wait 10 days. It's up
to 8 days, and many got it done within minutes. Att has every incentive to
make it slow, while apple wants to make it fast.

What do you mean att has no control? Doesn't the customer have to go through
att even to get the process started?

I was unlocking two smartphones. One is iphone. Why did the AT&T rep unlock
an in-contract phone over the phone and push back to unlock the out of
contract iphone? As you said what is AT&T 's incentive?

The operators give similar subsidies to high end android phones and iphone.
My iphone was not only out of contract, but also not being used.

through
AT&T doesn't have the unlock code in their computer database for iPhone.
AT&T just send your iPhone IMEI number back to Apple if your iPhone is end
of the contract(2 years vs others only 3 months). You have to use Apple
iTune to unlock it.
AT& has the unlocked code for all other AT&T phones. You can get unlock code
after own the phone 3 months.
You can get Verizon and Sprint iPhone half-way unlocked after 3 months.
Halfway means only non-US mobile carriers. The half unlocked iPhones cannot
be used with ATT and T-Mobile in the US.

Subsidy is only one cost item in the carrier's formula. iphone users might
contribute more revenues to the carrier, statistically speaking. If it was
att company policy, whether or not your individual iphone was being used is
irrelevant.

Well if that's the case, ATT does deserve some benefit of the doubt, because
it is not in control of the WHOLE process of unlocking. But again, by the
same token, Apple is not in control of the whole process either. Either one
can mess up.
